Deep gulleys, deep water, mountains of mud, steep climbs and ski-slope drops in the forest (in a Landrover) is what you call FUN !!!
Tim Jones (our resident 'Extreme 4x4' expert) invited me to sit in the left seat of his Defender on Sunday 30th April, to crunch our way through the Blackdown Hills. This wasn't just for a couple of hours either. Oh no, this was an all-day event alongside other (equally serious enthusiasts and experts from across Somerset and Devon). RV was at the Shell Filling Station, West Park, Chelston, where we had coffee, sharing a few stories and no small amount of merriment before setting off in convoy to the briefing point (somewhere in the forest above Blagdon Hill). Serious stuff, full briefing to all drivers before the day began and then off we journeyed on this fantastic 'safari'. I am very grateful to Tim for the opportunity he gave me to ride in the left seat of his Landrover (516 RKE). Tim was cool, calm and very talented at negotiating the rigours of the Blackdown Hills - as these pictures show.
