AGM Meeting 1st October 2020 and membership payment

by Admin User -

Dear Member

Firstly a massive thank you to all those of you who replied to my last email asking your preference about type of AGM meeting.

I have received 18 replies and of those six requested meeting in person and twelve requested meeting on Zoom (three had initially said in person but changed once it was apparent that coronavirus cases are rising) so initial replies would have been an equal split but now there is a majority vote for online AGM and therefore this is what we will do.

We will send out all appropriate reports for you to read before the meeting and then it will be a short 30 minute business Zoom meeting so that any queries can be answered.

The committee discussed and also sought the opinion of our Principal Examiner and and we all agree that whilst the government guidance says that you should try not to share a vehicle with those outside your household or support bubble we are unable to restart advanced driver training or testing in ADAS. We will review this once government guidance changes.

Thank you also to all those of you who have already said that you are willing to pay the full membership fee of £30 due on 1st October. For those paying reduced membership fee of £15 minimum then please also pay on around 1st October in order to maintain your membership.

Please make BACS payment to:

Advanced Drivers Association Somerset

Sort code 30-96-26 (Lloyds Bank)

Account number: 34869468

Please put your name as reference so that we know who has paid-thanks.

We will send out all the papers at the end of next week so that you will have time to read them before AGM and also Lucy will send out an invitation and details of how to join Zoom meeting on 1st October at 19.00 hours.

If anyone would like to email me directly then please feel free to do so at heathermarsh@doctors.org.uk

With best wishes

Heather

Suspension of activity due to Coronavirus

by Lucy Vaughan -

Due to the coronavirus outbreak, all meetings, training and ADAS activity have been suspended for at least the next 12 weeks, for the safety of our members, trainers, committee and the general public. Members meetings on 16th April and 4th June have both been cancelled.

We appreciate your patience and understanding at this time. Stay safe.

UPDATE from Heather Marsh 15th July

'We have therefore taken the decision to continue to suspend all advanced driver training for our members and also to cancel the Committee meeting on 16th July, Members meeting on 13th August and Trainers meeting on 3rd September.

We are planning on holding a Committee meeting in September either in person or online depending on lockdown rules at that time and will then discuss the way forward with regards to when we think that it would be safe and practical to restart advanced driving tuition and also discuss whether we think that we will be able to hold the Members meeting with AGM currently scheduled for 1st October 2020.'

Socially distanced AGM meeting Holiday Inn 1st October - 2 options still remain

by Admin User -

Re:Socially distanced AGM meeting Holiday Inn 1st October - 2 options still remain

Hello everyone. Well, this is not what we wanted to hear but I’m afraid that uncertainty continues to be the norm! Our AGM is due to take place on the 1st October and you will have already received an email from Heather outlining three options, which you have been asked to respond to. Under the circumstances, we have had no option but to cancel the proposed, “socially distanced” meeting at the Holiday Inn. The other two options remain so it would be helpful if you could respond asap with your thoughts.

Please read the attached announcement and rationale form Mat Hancock.

Many thanks and stay safe please.

Best wishes.
Stay safe.

Chris
