Close Protection & Anti Hijacking Experience Day

by Mark Hope -

Another great event at Smeatharpe Airfield on Sunday 14 April 2019.  With some members and tutors engaging in tactical anti hijacking driving skills.  Including emergency ABS braking & steering control, high speed controlled reversing, as well as how to turn your vehicle in the opposite direction whilst on the move!  Commonly know as a 'J' turn...

Ok, so these are something you may not engage in your everyday driving skills, (well at least we hope you don't!!) but a great insight into these various tactics used by people employed in this line of work.  A big thanks to Peter and Martin from "Specialist Operations Academy"

CPD day at Smeatharpe Airfield!

by Mark Hope -

What a fantastic day organised by Guy.

Thanks to Ab Agri (ABN) for the use of a vehicle and to Mark for organising the LGV element of this day. Thanks also to Tim who not only provided a vehicle and trailer but also his motorhome, which was, at times, a welcome relief from the very cold wind.
The day covered manoeuvring techniques, zones of visibility and in vehicle technologies. Everyone had an opportunity to carry out manoeuvres and discuss what could be seen and what could not in certain situations. It gave us first hand insight into what some drivers of LGV’s are faced with every day.

Secret Formula Discovered - Tim Takes Credit

by Steve Scott-Davies -
Massive congratulations to our very own Tim Jones, for his successful completion of a gruelling course to qualify as an ADAS Advanced Driver Trainer on 28th June 2017.  We are all very proud that ADAS has been accredited by iCQ (an Ofqual awarding organisation) for our advanced driver training programmes.

Vice Chairman (and Training Officer) Guy Annan, Chairman Chris Hillier and President Steve Scott-Davies contributed their knowledge and experience at different stages of Tim's training course and took great pleasure in joining him at the presentation of his ADAS Advanced Driver Trainer Award last Saturday morning, 8th July .

Tim is Managing Director of Formula Cars (South West) Ltd, Poole, Somerset. With his knowledge and expertise in racing, mechanical engineering, extreme 4x4 driving and all things automotive we are pleased and proud Tim is part of the ADAS Driver Training Team.
